This is incredible, in-depth list of wonderful resources. So happy to see the depth of all of these projects. Thank you for mentioning Regenerative Transmissions 🤍
Thanks so much Ruta, really appreciate your lovely feedback! I absolutely love Regenerative Transmissions, and the copper coil post really helped me personally, so thank you!
Thank you for creating such a wonderful list! A title that came to my mind is Terry Tempest William's "Refuge". She writes about her mother's cancer diagnosis (and the high rate of cancer in the women of the family and the likely link to the nuclear tests from the 1950s). It's about dealing with that as a family, as an individual, within a religion, and she intertwines it beautifully with the natural environment, and especially birds and a bird refuge.
Thanks for the recommendation, that sounds extremely relevant to my interests! I'm so here for the chronic illness x nested communities x nature crossover.
Yeah, give it a read. It's different in a way, since the focus is very much the environment, but the illness is never minimized either. A wonderful creative addition to writing about illness.
Great lists! I also like Norah McInerney’s Terrible, Thanks for Asking, (grief) and everything from Andrea Gibson especially since her cancer returned.
Thanks Michelle! Great recommendations thank you, I will check out Norah's work. I love Andrea's work too, pondering what of theirs to put on the list -- I love their podcast appearances, for example!
This is SUCH a brilliant list. I am overwhelmed with the level of recommendations (in the best way). However, I will be suggesting another for the list (I’m sorry). I’d really recommend ‘Between Two Kingdoms’ by Sulekia Jaouad. I read it recently and it really resonated with me, and definitely ties in to the themes of grief we are sick people battle on a daily basis. I wrote about it in this newsletter if you want a more detailed review: https://open.substack.com/pub/marthajadams18/p/july-reads?r=f29wj&utm_medium=ios&utm_campaign=post - I love the launch of this newsletter. Thank you so much I can’t wait for more! It’s so hard to find accurate sick media.
Thank you, Martha! And I know what you mean, it's kind of a lot... I might do a more curated version at some point, but for now I want a big ol' sprawling map of stuff.
Greetings, fellow bookworm 🤓 Your newsletter is wonderful! I subscribe to Suleika's newsletter, which is stunning, but I haven't read the book, I will add to the list, thank you for the recommendation.
My (emotional support) pile of unread books is shockingly high, but when I get to Suleika's, I will let you know! I've subscribed to your newsletter too :-) I'm very out of the loop fiction-wise at the moment (that's what you get for spending all your time reading grief books and watching Buffy), so looking foward to some solid novel recs.
The emotional support pile of unread books is TOO true of a phrase. My emotional support pile of books is sky high. Yes let me know! Happy to try and help you stay in the loop fiction-wise and provide some solid novel recs (I hope I live up to your expectations!) ❣️
Sometimes the sprawling map is needed as a good starting place! Hello! It’s wonderful to be in the company of a fellow bookworm 🐛 thank you for the love on my newsletter!! And you’ll be receiving an immediate subscribe from me on your book and other media recommendations newsletter too - the more newsletters the better I say!! And the more book & sick friends the better 🫶 Yes I am subscribed to Sulekia’s newsletter too it’s so wonderful. The book is a much much richer version of it!
Thanks Anna, yeah that was really important to me, to give the permission to disengage when needed. I actually got a new diagnosis earlier this year, and had to step back from this for 2 months, the grief felt too immediate. So I feel it very much personally!

I actually have another newsletter where, similar to you, I share recommedations for books, articles, TV etc (why have one newsletter when you can have two...?) https://thismightresonate.substack.com/?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=substack_profile
I look forward to you reading it and seeing what you think!

An incredible resource I shall be referring to time and time again in my own processing of living life with chronic fatigue and pain - Thankyou 🙏🏻

Thanks love, hope it's useful for folk!
